When we created OPEN a little more than 5 years ago we had basically one important guiding principle: Relentless simplicity. Reduce the number of models and you simplify production, logistics, customer decision making, the website, everything. Avoid traditional advertising or sponsorships and free up precious time for what really matters:
- Design better bikes
- Connecting with our customers and dealers.
We did not only apply this guiding principle to our new company, but also to our private life. Simplifying our own private life made us richer (no, not financially :-) and happier. So actually we should have been honest and add one more and most important point: make us happier!
Simplicity sounds like a simple thing but in fact it is not easy. It results in a lot of decisions and most of the time it's saying "no" to something or somebody. Not always an easy thing but once you have overcome the fear to do so it feels good. One of the latest examples is described in
Gerard's Full suspended blog.
We are close to the dream that we had 5 years ago when we started OPEN.
Here is a
very good article from the makers of “
Other People Magazine” that for once does not talk about frame geometry, performance or other technical stuff....
