BOTM: The New U.P. - Feeling blue? - part 4

Andy Kessler - 25-Sep-2017
After the picture gallery of last week here now the last part of the blue NEW U.P. BOTM blog.

It was really fun to build that bike. I really like the new Dura-Ace shift/brakelevers a lot. They feel great ergonomically and they look good to. Also the new Shimano rotors look so much better and seem to give a better brake feeling also. Combined with the Race Face Next SL crank (Shimano still does not have a decent 1x crank) and the DT Swiss XRC 1200, 27.5 wheels you get a very functional, good looking bike that can go anywhere...

Usually if an LBS doesn't hear back from us it's because they never contacted us, which in turn more often than not is because they'd rather sell you what they have already. Sad but true, that's the bike industry for you.

I'll attest - I had an LBS which had not followed up with me. I used the contact option on this website and had a response from Gerard the next day!
I placed my order online and skipped the dealer.
The diverge is a great bike but it can't touch the U.P. - its worthwhile to get your questions answered if you haven't purchased the Diverge yet!

Hi guys - I tried to find the May 2016 update related to the Di2 build you referenced recently, but I couldn't find a way to navigate to it without clicking individually on the posts (I assume I'm missing something obvious :)). Regardless - I have a couple of build questions for you... First, where are you mounting Di2 battery? Second, have you ever played with running a dropper post on a U.P.? Seems like it might be an interesting way to expand the range of terrain you could ride comfortably with drop bars and some wide 27.5 tires... Finally, is the "classic" going to be in production any longer or are you just waiting for the existing frame stock to be exhausted. Thanks!

Actually very easy. All BOTMs are in the GALLERY sections of the UP and ONE+ product pages. So for the May 2016 UP information (that's my personal bike), just go to the UP page, down to the GALLERY section and you'll see it there. The first slide contains the full spec list, and then all the photos follow.

Hi Andy - Nice Build! Do you have any details of the Di2 wire lengths used for your L frame size?

Hi Thomas, that's a good question. We haven't priced it out exactly as we don't sell complete bikes, we just get interesting parts from here, there and everywhere and then put them together into Bike Of The Month builds. These BOTM specs are just to give people some ideas and then you can combine that with your own ideas and tailored to where you ride to come up with the perfect set-up. Our retail partners take care of that, and they can also price out your exact dream spec. If you have nobody close-by, then you can definitely talk to Andy about your dream spec and he can give you an idea on the pricing too (just not this week, he's rather occupied).
