Talk at Rapha DC pop-up store

Gerard Vroomen - 23-Jan-2018
A few months ago I did a talk at the Rapha NYC store, and some of you commented that you would like me to do one at the DC store. And we're nothing if not customer focused, so tomorrow I will be at the Rapha pop-up store in DC. The details:

Date: January 24, 2018

Time: 18:30 (meet & greet)

  19:00 (talk)

The event is open to anybody, you don't need to be a Rapha Cycling Club member or an OPEN rider for that matter. We'll talk about pro cycling, gravel and whatever else you want to hear. I'm fretting a bit what else to talk about (but that is my standard MO, I agree to these things and then I regret it soon after). I'm sure enough topics will present itself, it certainly did in NYC, but if you have any particular topics you'd like me to cover, feel free to put them in the comments section.

The NYC one was a lot of fun and a sell-out crowd, so hope to see you there and don't come too late.

Come visit us in Seattle sometime! We have a nice Rapha clubhouse here too and the riding is great (maybe wait for spring).

We've done a meet & greet in Toronto already a few years ago but I am sure we'll do another one at some point this year or next year at the latest).

C’mon guys! The next meet and greet needs to be So. Cal! It’s 70 degrees out and sunny plus you have a local dealer here for support - ProBikeSupply. Road and mountain terrain is readily available after the meet and greet for a group ride. Ta da!

Yep, we did three of those last year including one for the introduction of the UPPER. That was fun too. Although more people show up for the face-to-face meetings for some reason. But we'll do one again.

I’m a Randonneur and need tie ins for fenders and if possible a handlebar rack up front. I see a great bike always stripped for racing. Do you have builds with this set up?

Hi, John. I use my U.P.P.E.R. for rando rides. For fenders, I use a race blade for disc brakes which is actually quite adjustable, with a long buddy flap (SIR). Of course, it is not a full fender, but works okay for me. No, it won't take a front rack to mount a handlebar bag, but you can still use a bag with a handlebar mountain, like an Ortlieb or others. Or you could also get a small front bag and a bigger bikepacking seatbag if you need the extra space. But it is really good for long randonneur rides, especially when the roads are rough.
