New riding and casual apparel

Gerard Vroomen - 19-Jul-2023
Since last year, all Rapha Clubhouses use OPEN bikes for their rental fleet. So it may come as no surprise that they decided to make some custom apparel for us. It's taken a bit of time (like everything) but it is now in stock in both our US and German warehouses.

We have short-sleeve and long-sleeve jerseys as well as bib shorts, caps and socks. Of course we have women's and men's cuts, so to make it a little easier to sort through things, we have split our apparel section into a men's page and a women's page.

But wait, there's more!

Together with Barcelona designer Kike Vega, we are launching a new line of casual apparel. Here we have some unisex pieces (caps, sweatshirt) and some specific men's and women's T-shirts. We even have a cap for kids. Unfortunately, the women's pieces are delayed a bit, so right now you'll only find the unisex pieces on the women's apparel page with more to come. The men's apparel page already has two brand new T-shirts in it plus the unisex pieces.

But wait, there's more!

We do still offer the Betty Design women's line as well, of course on the women's apparel page.

But wait, there's more!

We still have some other apparel from Assos and Q36.5. Really nice designs as well, and now with 30% while supplies last. To make these pieces easier to find, we now have an outlet section on the website. Note that the 30% discount is subtracted when you go through check-out.

Will you ever go with a threaded BB…? Also wish there was a bit more stack height for us older/less flexible riders…. I’m 5’9” and would like a 570 ish stack to avoid an unsightly spacer stack…,

Technically the threaded BB is a mediocre solution, if you want threads than it's better to use a press-fit shell with a thread-together BB so the threads are where they should be. Or a properly dimensioned press-fit cup. The dislike for press-fit is mostly due to older frames, nowadays properly made frames have very few issues. At the same time, people who think that threaded BBs cannot creak are often disappointed to find out they can. No surprise really, as creaking BBs also existed before press-fit. That said, there definitely is a trend now towards threaded BBs, just because brands don't want to deal with the hassle of explaining the pros and cons to consumers. And I get that, it's not really worth it, it's an argument that is hard to win and at most it's a draw.

With regards to geometry, our WIDE (https://opencyc...pecs) is exactly for what you describe, it has a 570mm stack for the Medium frame which would normally be your size if you're 5'9.

Love the new collection, but as a heavier person, I struggle to fit into the Rapha Pro apparel, so maybe for future collections you could use their Classic/Core fit?

I ride a Tarmac SL7 on the roads, I tried the Aethos but the handling and response seem dull to me. Can your UPPER be set up to steering response? As usual, I'm buying your bike without a proper test, basing choice and reviews, etc.
Understanding that the UPPPER has a different mission. but is it a "quick" handling bike?

If you ever find one last specimen of the Q36.5 "barcode" jersey in size M to make me look cool on my Wi.de, I'd be too happy if you could drop me a line. I somehow postponed buying one when it was still available, and now they seem to be all gone. Thanks in advance!
