Remember my bad Swiss humour back in November and my Black Friday post ? The reason behind this bike was not a joke but we had to build a bike for the German Gran Fondo Magazine. It is kind of strange when a cycling magazine asks you for a gravel bike for the "road bike of the year" competition.

But we know very well that the U.P.P.E.R. can be build into a very good road bike, so we accepted the challenge.  We had many nice U.P.P.E.R. builds in the past and featured also some as a BOTM already. We wanted to build a light bike with a lot of comfort as we think that is most important for a fun and fast ride.  I personally still believe that rider fatigue  (at least with a certain age and if you are not a pro) safes more watts than aerodynamic's and you gain more minutes on an uphill than you loose on a fast downhill.

Fortunately as Gerard is (or better was) also part owner of a German brand called THM we tried to use many nice parts of them and combined them with parts from another great German brand called MCFK.

Originally I wanted to call this Bike Of The Month the Germanator but I guess not really the right moment for that. It was by far the lightest bike in the test with 6.4kg....ok but also not the cheapest.
