I had a so much fun building that bike. I had even more fun riding that bike…

...but lets start at the beginning of the creation of this BOTM beauty. Ok I have to admit I am a "lefty fan". I personally still believe it is one of the best forks out there. I was not sure if it will work with the 3.0 plus tires but if, then this would be a super light fork for plus tires even more as we have the much lighter 1.0 version in our warehouse (the 2.0 version would also not fit our frame geometry). And guess what? It works perfectly.
The day my SRAM EUROPE contact Thomas showed me the first picture of the golden eagle group set, it was crystal clear how I wanted to built that bike. As a teenager I was a big fan of the John Player Special Formula 1 racing car. Not being a big fan of car racing this car was for me the the best looking formula 1 car ever….

The next thing was to get golden stickers for the ENVE M60 wheels that I had in my office. Thanks to our french agent
Mohawks we made that happen. Also
TUNE supported me with a quick shipment of golden hubs….
To get the new ONE + frame with a golden Top Tube decal was almost the easiest part.
At the end I had everything ready, only one very essential part of the bike was missing: the Golden Eagle group set. One week before my departure date it was still not confirmed… 2 days before departure finally I was holding it in my hands thanks to Andreas from SRAM Europe. He gave me one of the very few samples that he had. I really only realized by Sea Otter how few companies had any Eagle group set.
The very last bit that was missing on the bike was a bottle cage. I could not find a decent one here in Europe so Mark from
Probikesupply organized us a very cool looking one from PDW. Even the model name did fit our bike: the
owl meets the eagle!
I would love to make a limited edition run of this bike. If you have interest let me know: andy@opencycle.com
